We are extremely excited to be messaging you this afternoon about a new project called ‘Golden Fable’ featuring Tim & Becca from Tim & Sam’s Tim & The Sam Band.
For the first six months of 2011, Tim & Becca locked themselves away at Tim’s home studio in North Wales and started writing. Six months later, they had dozens of songs which they whittled down to a new LP that will be available from early next year.
We are all hugely proud of the new music. For them, it’s a coming of age. It still features some of Tim & Sam’s trademark sounds, such as multi-layered guitars and loop station wizardry, but it’s got lots more vocals and they’ve invested in the production which has enabled them to create an exciting and diverse new sound.
Their first single, ‘The Chill Pt. 2‘ is set for release on November 7th. You won’t need to wait until then to download it however, as we’re giving away the digital version for free. Head over to www.goldenfable.com, where you’ll be able to download it straight away. For those of you who would like to buy a copy, we’ll be making an extremely limited edition run of gold leaf embossed, handmade CD’s which feature some fantastic artwork (photos to follow).
Their debut London performance will take place at Electrowerkz on October 13th.

Best wishes,
Tom Rose

Snowball Music present: Denis Jones, Golden Fable, Silent Devices
‘Scuzzy Mancunian blues at its richest and, most intriguing’ – The Guardian
‘Logical, eardrum-massaging, heart-stirring sonic harmony’ – Drowned In Sound
Snowball Music invite you to join Denis Jones at his biggest London show to date.
With his second album, Red + Yellow = (released on Humble Soul), Denis Jones has at last managed to capture the intensity of his live performances in a studio environment, working with various engineers and finalising the recording and mixing at Airtight Studios with Tom Knott (The Earlies). The album was preceded by a limited edition 10-inch EP featuring remixes by Paddy Steer and Graham Massey.
Denis has, over the past three years, developed a show-stopping live performance based around the core of his exceptional and unique guitar-playing style and rich, soulful voice. Using a loop station and all manner of samplers and effects, Denis creates vast, complex orchestrations of beat-box rhythms, multi-layered vocals and other-wordly sounds, which veer from subtle heart-wrenching folk and blues to heavy bass-driven electronica.
Support from Golden Fable – Rebbecca Palin and Tim McIver were the driving force behind cult group Tim & Sam’s Tim & The Sam Band. After a heavy touring schedule, a highly acclaimed album and many radio sessions, the duo decided that it was time for a new challenge.
Set up at their home studio in North Wales, dozens of songs were whittled down to a self-produced eleven track LP that is ready for release early in 2012.
It’s their first ever London show ahead of debut single ‘Chill Pt2’. the multi-instrumentalists bring you quirky beats, layered synths and loop station wizardry. This is lo-fi, folk-tinged pop at its best.
Silent Devices open with ‘beautifully sparse post-rock – like Sigur Ros indulging Thom Yorke’s musical fantasies’.
We are looking for previews and interviews in the run up to this event. Please contact tom@snowballmusic.net if you are interested.

NEW SINGLE – Outrages 1 ta 3
Snapping at the heels of their Kerrang and Rock Sound approved debut single “Surrounded By White Men”, Antlered Man are back with a new single to pulverise your senses. Weighing in at a hefty 6 minutes long, it’s clear that the boys are not aiming their sights at Radio 1 playlist domination, however their plans are equally ambitious.
Antlered Man are an anomaly and “Outrages 1 ta 3” is a perfect example of why this band are on the cusp of reinventing a scene. The track starts with Danny Fury’s strung out and schizophrenic guitar at it’s tamest, setting an almost tantric sounding rhythm that is soon juxtaposed by the introduction of Sam Ray’s distorted bass.
Damo Ezekiel-Holmes’ unique lyrical style has lead to an influx of comparisons with System Of A Down – as with Surrounded By, he manages to keep control of his voice throughout, only truly bellowing at a couple of points, while availing pitch-perfect delivery of the cutting vocals for the remainder of the track.
The song twists and churns, changing time signatures throughout. Breakdowns have an eastern feel with hypnotic chanting and drums, before you are donkey punched by a harsher, apocalyptic sounding guitar riff. It’s a sound that shouldn’t work, but Antlered Man are forging a path where others fail.
With their b-sides, Antlered Man show a talent for turning pop on its head. First it was The Archies with their 1969 smash hit “Sugar Sugar”, now it’s the turn of 90’s queens of smooth groove – En Vogue, with a cover of their Grammy-nominated hit “Don’t Let Go”.
The band are playing short run of regional shows with Undergroove signed Exit International before the single launch on June 17th. Please see below for details:
19/05/2011 – Buffalo Bar – London
